“…to prevent every danger which might arise to American freedom by continuing too long in office…” -Thomas Jefferson
Objective: To limit the terms of our US Senators and Congressmen, return our government to the people and put an end the stranglehold that the professional political class has on our government.
Our Proposal: No member of the United States Senate may be elected for more than two (2) consecutive terms. No member of the House of Representatives may be elected to more than six (6) consecutive terms.
The Amendment Process made easy:
Article V of the United States Constitution provides the states with the power to propose constitutional amendments. A convention is not required.
- Two-thirds of the legislatures of the fifty states (34 states) call for a constitutional convention for the purposes of proposing amendments to the Constitution.
- Congress directs the states to consider the issue and set a time limit.
- Three-fourths of the state legislatures (38 states) vote to support the amendment.
There is no chance of a “runaway” convention.
- Only the proposed amendment may be considered.
- Congress may not add any provisions to the initial proposal.
- Individual states may not subsequently add any provisions to the initial proposal.
- The President has no role in the process. Governors have no role in the process.
Let’s put an end to the “Professional Politicians” and return Congress to the People.
It’s time for National Term Limits.
